AJR members participated in the first UK Mitzvah Day in November by taking part in a pack-a-thon at Hampstead Town Hall.

Our members packed goods for unaccompanied asylum-seeking children who arrive from Darfur to this country. Alongside the packers in the hall other projects were also taking place including, sorting toys for children from disadvantaged families and quilt making. …read more

AJR mourns passing of Rudy Kennedy

“The Association of Jewish Refugees (AJR) was deeply saddened to hear of the passing of Rudy Kennedy. Rudy was an inspirational campaigner who was determined that proper recognition and compensation be given to former slave labourers. His perseverance helped pave the way for the DM10 billion Foundation: Remembrance, Responsibility and Future, established by the German government and industry in 2001. Until his recent poor health he was an active member of the Umbrella Group committee of organisations representing and supporting Holocaust survivors and refugees in the UK. AJR statement on Rev Leslie Hardman

“The AJR is deeply saddened to hear of the passing of Rev Leslie Hardman and sends our sincerest condolences to his family. Like many AJR members, Rev Leslie Hardman was a witness to the Nazis’ inhumanity. As well as carrying out his duties as a Chaplain in the British army that liberated the Belsen concentration camp, he will always be remembered and honoured for continuing to speak about his experiences at Belsen, which had a profound affect on his life”, Andrew Kaufman, AJR Chairman. …link
