The AJR’s annual 5 day trip took place this year in Yorkshire and 31 members attended.
A great time was had by all visiting York Minster, The Chocolate Experience, Bronte Parsonage, Bolton Abbey Steam Railway, Harewood House, Harlow Carr Gardens, Bettys and The Thackray Medical Museum. The Kindertransport Organisation, part of The Association of Jewish Refugees, were delighted to welcome Dame Esther Rantzen DBE, to their monthly lunch where she spoke to 75 Kinder about the life of Sir Nicholas Winton, and the comparison between the current refugee crisis and their plight over 77 years ago. Members were delighted to also hear her family history, the history of Childline and her new project SIlverline to help those who are on their own and need some companionship. …read more
