AJR Celebrates Annual Tea
The Association of Jewish Refugees (AJR) celebrated the 60th anniversary of its Annual Tea at the Watford Hilton Hotel on Sunday 21 September 2008.
Almost four hundred guests heard the beautiful arias, duets and ensembles performed by The Garden Party, which this year is entitled Favourite Operettas with Gypsy Violin. They also enjoyed a traditional continental Tea.
In his welcoming remarks, AJR Chairman, Andrew Kaufman, said, “Today is the highlight of the AJR calendar, a chance for you to enjoy the wonderful entertainment, be amongst friends and renew acquaintances. It is also an opportunity to listen to the music so many of you grew up with and which has been so popular with AJR members over the years. Occasions like today illustrate the rich legacy of the refugees from across Europe and serve as a timely reminder of the remarkable community of people the AJR represents.”
