To commemorate Mitzvah Day on Sunday 16 November, AJR members will be participating in a project with the Jewish Community Centre and the Separated Child Foundation.
Members will be creating welcome packs for unaccompanied asylum-seeking children who arrive from Darfur to Britain without any basic essentials. The conflict in Darfur is now in its fifth year, with 300,000 people dead, 2.5 million displaced and 4,000,000 reliant on the international community to feed them. We will be working alongside Darfuni Refugees to pack up toiletries and other necessities.
This event will take place from 1.30-5.30pm at Hampstead Town Hall, Haverstock Hill, London NW3. If you are interested in volunteering for this project, please contact the AJR's volunteer department on 0208 385 3070.
