AJR Members Gather to Commemorate Kristallnacht
Members of the Association of Jewish Refugees (AJR) gathered on Thursday 9 November at the AJR Centre in West Hampstead, London to commemorate the 68th anniversary of Kristallnacht, the night of broken glass.
AJR members participated in a commemorative service led by Reverend Larry Fine, which concluded with the lighting of memorial candles. For the first time, the AJR’s commemorative service was attended by AJR members from Scotland and the north of England as part of a three day visit to London.
During the course of the evening of 9 November 1938 more than 1,000 synagogues were destroyed and more than 20,000 Jews were arrested and deported to concentration camps.
