The Association of Jewish Refugees (AJR) was delighted to welcome Daniel Finkelstein, Associate Editor of The Times, who addressed more than 100 members of the AJR at a gathering at the Imperial War Museum last month.

Calling on his experience working at Conservative Central Office and as a journalist, Mr Finkelstein gave a lecture entitled The Used Car Test, in which he described the cunning methods employed by politicians to convince people how to vote.

Mr Finkelstein is the grandson of Dr Alfred Wiener, the inspiration behind what became known as the Wiener Library, the world's oldest Holocaust memorial institution.

As well as the talk from Mr Finkelstein, AJR members toured the Holocaust exhibition at the Museum and took the opportunity to socialise and share their experiences with other members from across the country.

The event was organised as part of a three-day visit to London by AJR members from Scotland and the north of England. They also visited the Wiener Library, the Cabinet War Rooms and the Churchill Museum and took the opportunity to visit a kosher restaurant and see a West End show.

On Thursday, 9 November, they will participate at a special service at the AJR Centre in West Hampstead, to commemorate the anniversary of Kristallnacht, the night of broken glass.
