Annual Celebration of Volunteering
The annual Celebration of Volunteering when we thank AJR volunteers for all their great help, this year took place at the Westminster Synagogue in Knightsbridge.
AJR welcomed everyone who has been supporting the AJR, including Trustees, Directors and Volunteer coordinators. The volunteers were thanked by Carol Hart, Head of Volunteer and Community Services, who explained how the volunteers department has expanded over the past year. As well as launching a project, run by Lesley Woolfe, to support members with memory loss more members have become interested in receiving computer help and have been matched with young volunteers.
We were also delighted to welcome guest speaker Leonie Lewis, Director of the Jewish Volunteering Network and AJR Trustee Anthony Spiro who gave a personal tribute to the volunteers.
After the remarks, guests were invited to tour the exhibition of Czech scrolls that were rescued during the Holocaust and brought to Kent House in 1964. Since the arrival of the scrolls, they have been restored in Jewish institutions around the world.
The event was a great opportunity for volunteers to exchange their experience and their presence was appreciated by the AJR.
